My top 10 picks for home gifts this Christmas

Interior Design Gift Ideas

Choosing presents for our loved ones can turn into a monumental task.  If you are like me, you want each present to have a meaning and make the person happy. Our home is our sanctuary, specially during these uncertain times.  What a better way to make everyone happy than to spread the Christmas love throughout the home!

1)    Hard cover photobook

Who said your coffee table book must be of some exotic destination or home décor?  This year we have had to keep apart from loved ones more than ever before.  Creating a photobook of your cherished moments is a wonderful way of keeping the memories alive. You can even splurge and order it in a box with a luxurious finish with embossed gold fonts. I am an avid user of Photobox.

 2)    Decanters

All you need to keep the holiday spirit flowing in style, is a decanter. They come in all shapes and sizes, though I do love the clear glass ones.  The best part, you can display them around your home and use them all year round!

 3)    Scented candles, oils, and reed diffusers

This gift idea uses 4 of the five senses, who can compete with that! You can basically fill a home with wonderful scents. Just please do remember to keep an eye on burning candles, we do not want to cause a fire! You can never go wrong with a little beeswax.  Of course, we are now lucky to have a whole variety of vegan, organic candle options at our disposal.  I personally like to support small businesses.  They have wonderful creations with beautiful scents, like winter berries and Christmas spice.

 4)    Hurricane lamps

I find the name funny, but hey, who am I to judge?  I am sure most of us are not expecting a hurricane, but they keep candles from blowing out, which is a win in my book! You can use them inside or outside, alone or in sets. I have one in my family bathroom which we love to use all year round. For a child friendly tip, you can decorate them with Christmas ornaments and led lights for the holiday season.

 5)    Flowers & vases

Never underestimate the power of flowers. Yes, they are as traditional as they come, but they are just divine!  The whole point is to bring a smile to your face and dress the home for the occasion.  They are beautiful to look at, most have a fantastic aroma and come in an infinite number of species. You can combine them as you please and pair them with fantastic vases which also come in a variety of materials, colours, shapes, and sizes.   It is tradition in my family to have poinsettias.  They are a Christmas holiday classic in Central America.

 6)    Christmas cushions and throws

As we are riding the traditional wave, Christmas cushions are just what your sofa needs, and yes please do also use them on your bed if that makes you happy. We are all about indulging and pampering ourselves this holiday season.

 7)    Serving board

Special occasions should be celebrated.  Natural wood or stone serving boards make a fabulous backdrop for cheese and nibbles. They also look great on your kitchen counter throughout the year. You can create a 5 star dinner table at home!

 8)    Fruit/salad bowls

As we are in the kitchen theme, lets talk about bowls.  Most of the time we need our fruit and sometimes veg to be left at room temperature. You can never have too many bowls, and stylish ones add flair to your kitchen and can be kept on the counter even when empty.

 9)    Door mat

Want to saying hello and goodbye in style? A great gift idea is a doormat.  It can be funny, personal, and even customizable. Not the everyday gift and yet so useful.  At home we have one that has hello written in multiple languages, reflecting my multi-cultural background.

 10 )Design consultation
