Home office/flex space solutions
We have all had to pivot and adapt to using our spaces in more ways than we had originally planned for them to be used. If space is limited, multipurpose furniture is your best friend! Creating spaces where the whole family can come together and enjoy each other is so important. In this digital age where we can all just sit in our own rooms with our phones and forget about the world around us, such spaces need to be intentional.
Spare bedroom
Have you found yourself not using your spare bedroom as much as you had anticipated? Well, aside from the whole pandemic situation, it is still true that house guests are not an every day event. If you have not done it yet, converting it into your home office is a great move. As per my blog post on home office you can get the basics or go all out and make it your office haven away from your office. If you still want the flexibility of receiving house guests in the future, a sofa bed is a wonderful idea, and if it has added storage, even better! Adding some personal touches and pieces brought back from your travels will make it that more special.
Garden Room
A bonus space is gold, be it an extra bedroom or a garden room. If you want to be fair with all your family members, making it flexible so it can be used by all, is key to a happy life. If you have teens that need their space away from you, but you still want to keep an occasional eye on, such a space is priceless. Of course, lets not forget those family film nights with popcorn and hot chocolate. Your home should be a place you are excited to be in, where you can relax and create memories.
YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL
Well, at least when it comes to using your space for multiple purposes, you can have it all! In one room, you can have a home office, guest bedroom and home cinema all in one. It is all about the choice of furniture. For example, a three seater sofa-bed (double) with storage can accommodate house guests or be used for a cozy film night. I also recommend an ottoman stool with storage and tray, like the one pictured above from Next, it is just perfect. With it you have extra seating and extra storage, or you can use it to sit back and put your feet up! If space is at a premium, you can also use it as a side table for your drinks. A foldable desk is a perfect solution for tight spaces anywhere around a home. Once your work day has ended, you can just tuck it away behind the sofa.
